Linköping Air Swing presents its very first Shag in the Air 24th – 26th of April 2026!
The weekend will offer international teachers and two nights of parties with live music.

Shag in the Air is proud to present the two teacher couples for the weekend: Ignacio Cuervo (NO) and Sirin Johnsen (NO), as well as Stefan Ros (NL) and Tytti Lahti (FI)!
Level Descriptions
Level 1 – Leonardo’s aerial screw
Just like Leonardo da Vinci, you gaze wide at the sky and dream of one day being able to fly freely like the birds.
You’re totally new to Collegiate Shag, or might have tried it once or twice before, and now you wish to learn or repeat the solid basics to get your feet going on the social dancefloor. This shag weekend is a warm invitation to kick start your shag!
Level 2 – Kite flyer
You already know the basics and now you desire to sway more freely across the dancefloor, just as the aviation pioneer Otto Lilienthal did with the iconic gliders attached to his arms.
You’ve been dancing Collegiate Shag in several classes before, and you dance it regularly on social dances. You have started feeling comfortable with the basic steps and figures in shag. Now you wish to challenge yourself to faster tempos and increase your understanding of more technical parts, musicality and connection with your dancing partner!
This level is for you who have been in intermediate level in Air Swing one or more times.
Level 3 – Propeller Plane
Would you fancy the nickname Lucky Lindy just like Charles Lindbergh? Then the Spirit of St. Louis, in which he made the first flight across the Atlantic in 1927, is ready to bring you further!
You’ve been dancing Collegiate Shag for a couple years, probably taken classes at festivals before, and wish to challenge yourself further. You social dance regularly, and you train and develop your shag-dancing outside class as well. Fast tempos don’t scare you, and you’d like to develop your musicality, communication and improvisation!
Youth
There are no obstacles and nothing is impossible – like the Wright brothers, the aviation pioneers, you take on this challenge that after a weekend fly freely over the dancefloor.
Are you between 15-20 years old and usually dance Lindy Hop, in Air Teens for example, then this is the level for you. The courses on Saturday afternoon contain fast Lindy Hop, where Emrik and Edvin from Linköping Air Teens are teaching.
Do you wanna try Collegiate Shag, then you are most welcome to the taster on Friday! If you are brave and want the full Collegiate Shag experience, you are more than welcome to attend the Shag in the Air level 1, or if you have more experience, choose the suitable level.

Friday: Belleville Trio from Stockholm
Saturday: Joakim Falk Blue Devils from Stockholm
Party Pass
Are you ready to party? With this party pass for 450 SEK you’ll get:
– 2 entrance tickets to party Friday and Saturday
– 2 tasters (in Collegiate Shag) Fridag and Saturday
– 1 tea dance on Sunday
– Swedish fika!
We will release a limitid amount of party passes on 1/3 at 18. Later on we will release another batch of passes, as far as space in the venue allows. The ticket at the door will cost 250 SEK/party. But please note that this is not guaranteed and will only be available subject to capacity. We promise fast music well suited for Collegiate Shag and Balboa!
Hosting accomodation
For those who are interested, we will try to match dancers travelling to Linköping for Shag in the Air with dancers who live here and volunteer to have someone stay over at their place during the weekend. If you want to host someone/be hosted, let us know in the registration. Once we have matched hosts and guests, we will bring you in contact, using your email address, and from then on the rest is up to host and guest to arrange.
Be aware that we cannot guarantee to find a host/guest for everyone who wants it, but we will let you know of it.
Additional Information
Please notice that switching between roles can happen at every level and that teaching will be in English.
Smaller changes in schedule and content can be made until the start of the festival.
